The theory test consists of two elements

The first element is multiple choice, consisting of 35 randomly selected questions. This section is designed to test your understanding of the theory behind driving. The pass mark is 30 out of the 35 questions.

The second element is the Hazard Perception Test (HPT) and is designed to test your awareness of potential hazards whilst driving. You will see 14 video clips which feature everyday road scenes. In each clip there will be at least one developing hazard, but in one clip there will be two developing hazards. When you spot a developing hazard you should click the mouse button - a sign will be posted on the screen to show how many times you have clicked. The pass mark for this is 44 out of 75.
